Hi..we bought a 1987 Econoline 150 with 5.0 302. Van ran fine..then started chugging really bad..now won't stay running at all. Turns over then dies... took off the catalic converters, unhooked the erg valve and did a complete tune up. As you can probably tell I am a lady that doesn't know much about cars..my hubby is doing the work..I do know that it has an fuel injector in it. Hubby does work on VW's, but never a van like this..it has him stumped..and help would be appreciated...thanks, Kathy

Yes its getting gas and spark. Unhooked gas line all the way up to the fuel injection and turned it over and its shooting gas and the spark..its getting spark or it wouldn't be firing.

If it's getting gas and spark it should run. When the engine dies out recheck it for gas and spark .It is most likely dying out from not enough fuel pressure or spark.

Hubby was wondering if it might be the computer..keeping it from running

It might .The computer control's fuel injection, timing, spark and more. When it run's does the check engine light come on?

No the check engine light does not come on ..but hubby says he doesn't even know if its hooked up. was wondering if it could be electronic modular. Hope its not the computer

Make shure the firing order is correct. Check all vacuum lines are connected. Check all wire's and make shure the egr vaulve is connected.
