Advanced Auto is running a 2-for-1 on their house brand "Total Grip" filters...works out to $1.34 apiece. From what I've read on various websites (BITOG, Toyotanation, etc.), it seems this is a Purolator Premium Plus filter w/20% less filtration media and a "grippy" paint job on the exterior. Other than that, it is the exact same filter as the Purolator (rubber ADBV, metal endcaps, same machine stampings, etc.); the only odd thing is that Advanced uses Fram's filter numbering system (ie, AA3600 is the same as a Fram 3600).

Normally, I run Premium Plus filters on my Ranger and they work out quite well for 3K OCI's, with all my UOA's looking fine. But for the AA sale price, I couldn't pass these up and picked up six for $8. However, when I got home I noticed that a few of them had a little bit of overspray on the face plate. It's nothing major; really just a few very tiny flecks of orange paint here and there. Anyway, I thought I'd check here and see if anyone else is using them/has used them and if so, what was your opinion of them.

Thanks for any replies.
