The V8 gets slightly better gas mileage than the V6. My V8 averages 300 miles to the 18 gallon tank I drive mixed highway (80 miles an hour) and mixed city (with the air on).. If I were to drive normally in the city, I get the same 300 miles to a tank. Normal highway gets me 330/340 miles per tank. Do the math..

Hi,
Explorer 99 is indeed a great car, provided you need the properties of it...
Mine is a V6 4.0L making 17 mpg (300 miles/ tank to campare with jamanred's V8). I know mine is over the average though. A friend of mine easily gets out over 20 mpg on his identical model.

If I behave myself on a long Interstate run (cruise control), I can crack 22 mpg. Everyday life? 18-20.
Duplicate post. Sorry.
