arm rest fell off captain''s chair

hi all

an armrest fell off the 2nd row captains chair in my 01 windstar and I can''t seem to get it back on. I can see the little white clip in the armrest that snaps over the post to keep it on but once I slide the armrest onto the post, I can''t access the clip anymore to snap it into place.

any experience you can share with me?
