I just got an 03 escape with a v6. I love it. But I was told it gets between 20 to 25 mpg in town. I'm only getting 17. What can I do to make it better?

Check all tire pressures and alignment. Change the air and fuel filter. Usually those basic things will increase mileage.

I recently purchased an '06 Escape, my milege is averaging 23.5, mostly Hwy, still early in the game.

I got an o3 and the very best we ever got was 24!! Do you drive with a heavy foot? It should be getting way more than in the teens!

I have an 05 manual 2.3L and I get an honest 25+ with mostly city driving, but I'm sure I really sacrifice power compared to you V6 owners. I just finished a trip from CA to SD and the engine really felt short-winded at higher elevations. Haven't calculated mpg yet for all of this highway droning. PS, I have Magnaflow high-flow cat, muffler, and resonator installed.

with a V-6 you can get 23-26, just add Magna flow cat back exhaust (life guarantee) with cold air intake kit
If you feel up under fender there is a silencer at end of air intake to stop old ladies complaining about intake noise, take it out before cold air install
add 3-5 Mpg & 12-18 Hp which is just what you want to stop that annoying tranny hunting between 3rd to O/D
Other great mod, when your off warranty if applicable is to reflash the chip
If you have tranny shift problems this what Ford does anyway!
Cause we al know that tranny is a time bomb, thats why people change trans fluid every year!
Super chip makes a great chip for your Escape that really brings the little girl to life with no il effects
