I've got a 98 F150 and recently had to change the battery out. Drained it deader than dead and it wouldn't come back after I screwed up and left my lights connected when I put my boat trailer in the water. After putting the new battery in, my oil pressure and engine temp gauge both "peg" to the red. Sometimes this doesn't even happen after I initially start it, but as soon as I drive down the block, they peg. Also my gas gauge seems to fluctuate. Have tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery several times (as recommended by the dealer) but it still happens. Any recommendations would be appreciated before I break down and take it into the dealer.

Try disconnecting bat. then turn key to 'on' pos. for a few (10) secs..
Well, I gave it a shot but it didn't correct it. Appreciate the help though.

Guess this maybe a dum question, but you have check all fuses in and out of the truck?
Also there is a part on the insturment cluster called a slosh relay that may have gone bad. This slosh relay keeps the gauges steady, like the fuel gauge, it would move all over the place because of the fuel moving in the tank. You may get a salvage yard to let you try the cluster before you buy.

this year of trucks leak from around ther windshield leaks down to the fuse box gem module combo take a peak at the fuse box for corrosionnot on the fuse side top where they come together
