Hello everyone,
New here and not much of a technical person but can do normal type work on my trucks and boat. Searched but not sure which advice to start with. I have a 2002 Explorer V8. The Service Engine Soon Light is on. The engine runs ok cold but sputters and dies, during idle, once it is luke warm. The codes are: P01171 System too lean (bank 1), P0174 System too lean (bank 2), P1131 Manufacturer Contrl. Fuel Air Metering, P1151 Manufacturer Contrl. Fuel Air Metering.
Any advice on what could be wrong or where to start to fix this problem without taking it to the dealership ($$$$)?
Thanks in advance for any input.

Sounds like the typical intake gasket issue. Could be uppers or lowers.

i had a 1999 explorer until i traded it in yesterday. i had the same problem with mine after chasing the issue. try easiest to hardest:
1. mass air flow sensor- unplug and compressed air clean it even possibly replace, cheap on ebay. don''t go to dealer!!!!
2. replace idle air control sensor- cheap on ebay
3. oxgen sensors
4. vacuum leak
5. your prior answer of the intake manifolds upper/lower
that is all i had to go through before it was found to be the vacuum leak. chased the problem over the period of over a year. be sure to disconnect the negative battery cable every time to reset the computer and check engine lights. reconnect and drive it.
