Shut down while driving

I have an 03 Sport Trac, that just start to shut down while driving. It will start no problem run for a little bit then just quit, takes a few trys to start but then fires right up. I have heard they have an extenal fuel pump and the switch can be moved, is this possible if so where is the switch and pump located.
