RE: hello newbie 68 fairlane
In short - I'd say don't bother unless the parts you put in the engine are designed for use with a supercharger. The increased loads a supercharger imposes are not easily absorbed by all standard engine components (gaskets, some piston heads,etc.). It might even work for a while - but it's not worth wasting the effort to only end up blowing upthe motor. Superchargers can be full time or intermittant how ever you like. If you must put a supercharger on a motor not meant for it - at least go with a lower pressure one. Also keep in mind thatsome superchargers (like turbos) may need regular bearing service work done (no matter how much you hate doing it). On the bright side - a supercharger is 50 times less likely to be the own cause of it's demise (not including if you make a mistake in putting it together).
