My 96 contours brake lights will not come on ,changed the bulbs and checked the fuses but still not working ran out of ideas need help thanks

 

Check the 4 pin connector in the steering column for the turn signal switch. The central power feel terminal (female) provides power to the brake light circuit. The female multipin connector is no longer available from Ford. In order to replace, find a multipin connector with similar connector spacing and trim the outer body to fit into the recess on back of the turn signal switch.
