03 Sport Trac Trac Loc into a 95 CV/GM
I have a 95 Grand Marquis with a 2.76 geared open diff. I just aqquired a good used Trac Loc unit out of an 03 Explorer Sport Trac for free. Now i know i will need to buy new axleshafts since the Trac Loc is a 31 spline and the factory axle is a 28 spline unit. The Explorer had 4.10 gears which i don't plan to use. The Explorer has a reluctor ring on the ring gear for the abs but i am guessing the CV/GM doesnt have the reluctor there since it has sensors near the brakes (i haven't actually looked at the pumpkin on the car). Can i purchase a gearset of 3.27 or higher for the car and install it on the Explorer Trac Loc?
So i guess the question is, other than 31 spline axles, everything else i need to install the Trac Loc into my Grand Marquis would be normal parts for a gear swap in said car?
I also plan to rebuild the Trac Loc since it's out.

Tow, i wouldn't put the explorer rear en in your GMQ. our cars from the 90's to mid 2000's have 28 spline rear ends. I't would be a lot easier just selling the explorer rear end and picking up a 98-00 cvpi rear end with trac-loc and putting that in. You can go to a junkyard and pick a decent one up for around 300$. also adtr.net sells a trac-loc rebuild kit and rear end gears to make that rear end a monster. I hope that i helped man, if you got any questions feel free to ask.
