Default 1989 ford e150 stuttering, and missing

New van to me. 5.0 throttle body, aod auto trans. New plugs, wires, cap and rotor, coil, air filter, fuel filter, idle control valve, map sensor, cleaned throttle body, cleand egr. Stutters and loses power during acceleration and under load and won't pull hills or any incline in overdrive. Last night after putting the new map and idle control, disconnected negative battery cable and jumped to positive to reset system.(friend told me to do this?). Today drove 120 miles and was way better(barely noticeable, only when under a good load uphill in third or fourth). Then during the last 15 miles, started doing it really bad again. Getting frustrated, and need advice on what my next step should be. Catalytic converter? Fuel pump? New egr? Help greatly appreciated!!

Just wanted to add that the problems already existed when I git the van, and also wanted to add, when its acting up the oil pressure goes up as well and it runs a little warmer

If you can get a fuel pressure gauge (rent) see what your fuel pressure readings are at the time it loses power. That should determine if a fuel supply problem is there. Fuel pumps can get tired and produce symptoms like these and so can poor connections for the fuel pump.
The gauge readings may be an indication of a poor electrical connection in the electrical supply system. A thorough check of all the grounds you can find would be a good place to start.

Thanks! Will do, I'll pick up a pressure gauge tomorrow and get it hooked up. I'll also start finding and cleaning ground as well. Thanks for the reply, it's much appreciated.

It's also interesting about the electrical aspect. The lights dim when I put my heater from off to on, and brighten very noticeably when I give it rpm. Never had a rig that does this. I also have one power window that doesn't work, but when I use the switch the lights dim as well.

Not knowing the maintenance history of your van , I wouldn't be surprised if the battery cables possibly have some internal corrosion which is not always visible. If they are the original cables it's a good possibility, and the better way to confirm that is voltage drop testing. Don't forget to also check the positive supply connections while you are in there.
