Default 1996 E350 econoline possible head gasket failure

Hi,
finally after replacing the radiator cap the system seemed to be pressurizing properly, but now the radiator is leaking on top, i knew it's in bad condition and it shouldn't be a problem replacing it, draining out the coolant and letting it sit overnight in a clean container i emptied it into a different container and noticed it has an oily smell, the engine never needs oil topped off, and the oil is dark and no coolant that i can visually detect, im wondering, since i have the old rad out, would it make sense to dig in deeper and change the head gaskets, not counting labor, how much would it cost and what other parts would i need to replace? would you guys think it would make sense doing it?

This is one of those decisions where it could go either way.
The 5.8s were a good engine with proper maintenance, but how long have you had it and what are the miles on it now?

Had it since new, love it, using it for driving around the section and light mantainance work,
It has 220,000 miles and ran nice and smooth, how can oil be in coolant but never low oil?

The transmission fluid is piped through the radiator of course in a different area but in the same radiator. You may have an internal split that is leaking trans fluid into the coolant. ..... And visa versa most likely.
So now pull your dipstick for your trans fluid and see it there is any coolant in your transmission.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....
Ok, I think the oil ports dripped into my coolant, I took them off as well because I thought it's also antifreeze,
Whoa guys, back in business!! Will change out the radiator and it'll work like new!
