Question 92 E150 Power Steering issue.

Having a problem with my van. Just the other day it quit steering with ease both ways. (can steer to left with without a problem however the right is like I need to be a muscleman to get it to turn) Always thought if the steering box went it would be the same for either turn, if this is not true what else could it be. PS. prior to this the steering was staring to wonder a slight bit.

It is always a good idea to rule out any worn, seized or parts needing lubrication before condemning the steering box and also power steering fluid reservoir is to the required level.
If after all the linkage and steering parts are confirmed in good and free condition, there is a spool valve on the top of the steering box that may have a defective sealing ring that will prevent power steering assist in the direction the sealing ring controls.
In that case it would require replacing the steering box with a rebuilt unit.
