Airbox "honking noise" when engine is cold...
Hey Guys, I'm getting a load honking noice coming from my air cleaner while warming up my 98 E-150 Conversion Van with a 4.6 V8. It's not constant, but seems to cycle on and off. If I give it a bit of throttle while it's making the noise, it stops... Any ideas?

Hi Barry,
There could be other possible reasons for the noise, but I would suspect something is loose and the incoming air is causing the unit /interior parts to vibrate. It could be the filter itself or just the way the assembly is put together. When it heats up and expands the pieces are a little tighter and won't move as much. At least it is a good place to start checking.
