Default Ford newbie trying to get an 1986 E150 Van going.

Howdy guys

I recently Picked up a free 1986 e150 van. It has an inline 6 in it and the body was in great shape. NO major rust.

Any ways Some rodents got to the wire harness and Ive been fixing it little by little. After tinkering with it I got it to crank with the ignition again and got the spark going again.

I have an issue getting it to run. She turns like 6 times and then stalls. I threw a set of wires on I had around due to the animals eating the old ones to the boot. I cleaned the carb and all. SHE trys to run but wont.

I also added an 12 volt electric fuel pump due to the mechanical pump giving me issues. I did notice I get a nice blue spark from the coil but a weak one coming from the cap and wires. Cap and Rotor look ok . I just cant figure out the issue.

I bet the problem is right in front of me and I dont see it. Any ways any suggestions is really appreciated. I never worked on many fords before so yea.

Once again thank you. GIO

Just curious, what kind of condition are the plugs in?
What about the connections in the dist cap are they clean?
If you pull out one or two of the plugs , are they dry, wet ?
If the vehicle has not been run for quite some time I would suspect the quality of the gasoline in the tank.
How was the carb cleaned?

I cleaned the carb with carb cleaner and an air compressor.. I pulled the plugs and they were in good shape . I cleaned them and checked the gaps and they were all on the dot.

They did not get wet every time I pulled them. I got her to stay running about 8 turns then it stalled again. I also forgot to mention I pulled all the old gas out and gave it fresh gas. Also Blew the line going to the tank and replaced the filter.

MY suspicion is the wires I used . They are the old wires off my 4.3 chevy blazer engine.

Have you tested the fuel pump yet, I think that if you have gotten it going and it has stalled it sounds like it is not getting fuel. If you say the mechanical one was giving you issues did you take it out and then add the electric one? Or did you cut the diaphragm on the mechanical to allow gas to flow out?

What I did was disconnect the mechanical one and added the electric one.

She trys to stay running but shakes and then stalls.

Could you possibly have any of the plug wires on the wrong plugs?
(meaning not in the correct firing order)

Ive rechecked the fire order multiple times. Im wondering the longer wires would be an issue. The wires were not ment for that motor.
