Default Fuel Tank Roll Over Valve?

Hey Everyone,

I have a 1983 Ford E350 460 and I need to replace the grommet on the front tank and rear tank. The tanks will leak when I fill up because the grommet is old and cracked. I haven't pulled the grommet out to see it yet but basically its a grommet that has a hose coming out... the hose is capped off. I think its a one way valve to let pressure escape but I'm not certain. I searched high and low and can not find this part anywhere. Does anyone know of a Fuel Tank Roll Over Valve that would fit this tank? I called the Ford dealer and they said it would be a Fuel Tube Grommet that I am looking for. I'm not sure that they are looking up the right part or not. I was hoping someone could clarify or offer more insight into this issue.

Thanks,

is the grommet on the top of the tank(s) or are they where the filler tubes meet the tank(s)?

It is the grommet on top of the tank.

it's normal to have some gas leak from over filling but you can go to any parts store and get those grommets just take one of the old ones with you so that they can match it up and get the right size. that valve acts as a vent to let some out some of the vapors escape from the inside of the tank and stop it from expanding to the point of explosion

Sounds good. I'll leave a pretty decent size puddle at the gas station if I top it off. It has to be fuel grade right? Any old grommet will probably deteriorate from exposure to the gas? I can probably just reuse the existing hose right? I found the part below... doesn't say it would fit but I was hoping to find something like this. Just to make it more up to date.
