Default here we go gonna start the rebuild

Hi again,
Hopefully I get a pretty good bill of heath from the mechanic that has Blue (we name all our cars).

First plan of action is to take before pictures (will post some) Second is to pull all the seats for re carpeting.

Can anyone tell me the size of the star bolt so I can get one.

Thanks
Jeff

I found them they set behind the spring look pretty small for as heavy as this van seems to be. I would like to beef up the springs any one know the best steps to take?

Default Making some headway

Well,
I got the shocks changed of course the fronts I had to drill and put a new bolt in the frame for the bottom of the shock. I put in the 2000 lbs helper spring and new shocks in back.

I had it aligned and tires balanced and rotated. They said the fronts were trashed because the alignment was bad and the shock was toast also. Well when they were putting the new tires on the back we noticed a seal leak in the rear end, well new axel, bearings and seals.

Need to fix cruse control place to start?

What about an axle saver bearing, over replacement axle/s?

There's an Axle Saver bearing available that moves or 'shifts' the area the OE bearing 'used' to run on to an area right next to the old damaged/pitted axle run onto a fresh/good surface. The bearing and seal are a unit. As a bearing fails it pits and scores the axle surface, if enough, or the seal is equally worn a leak develops causing gear lube to enter the brakes.

Generally a Saver Bearing corrects a worn axle, and most times if the leak hadn't compromised the brakes friction surface, they can be washed down with brake cleaner and blown dry. Shoe replacement isn't a bad idea, but not always required...
