Default how to by-pass mechanical selector valve/reservoir

90FordE150 5.0 club wagon dual tanks. want to remove the rear tank and the mechanical selector valve and just run from the front tank. problems with mechanical selector and don't really have any need for dual tanks.....at least not how I drive....so I just want to by-pass the rear tank and the selector valve so the front tank runs only. I would also need to know about the tank selector switch; if I can just leave it plugged in and switched for the front tank. The mechanical selector valve on my ford isn't the same as those sold at like autozone or elsewhere (the newer ones have an electrical connector requiring a pigtail and toggle switch purchase to go with it) and run about 50 bucks. the junkyard had only one similar to mine and I kinda decided right there based on the condition of this poor, poor truck that it would be better buying it new. however, as I mentioned, aftermarket stores don't sell the same set-up and the local ford dealership wants 292.00 before taxes. junkyard wants around 30 bucks. So the lesser of the two evils would be just to delete the selector valve and the rear tank. If you have a procedure I would be interested in hearing about it. My guess is to just remove the rear tank and it's hoses which are attached to the selector valve. remove the selector valve and take the front tank fuel line and attach it to the external pump and get a piece of metal fuel line and attach the front tank return hose together with the return hose coming off the fuel rail area, and just leave the tank selector switch under the dash turned to the front tank and that should work. but that's my opinion....what's yours? This topic has been discussed via Hanky and myself under the title schrader valve leaking thread
