Default Newby with E-250 questions.

Hi
Hope you can help.
I have a 2004 E-250 with around 140,000 kilometres, owned it for three years and put around 60,000 kilometres on it. Runs great (touch wood).
Have two questions if you can help, first the dash board does not light up, had the fuse checked it look's good?
Second, the tires on the van are 245's the sticker on the door say's 225's, it is time for new tire's is there a good reason it had 245's? Or should I go for 225's? Also would they fit the same rims?
Would an insurance company for example have an issue against a claim?
I carry a lot of equipment for my work if weight has any bearing.

Thank for any help.
