Default 2002 escape issue

Hello all, my name is Mark and I'm new to the forum. I have an issue that started the other day where my 2002 escape started running very poorly. I used my brothers code reader and got a P0301 misfire in cylinder 1 reading. I found that the #1 spark plug had actually loosened a little. Weird?! I changed all of the plugs and it ran better but now when I give it gas to accelerate between gears (manual tranny) it starts missing again but if I just ease up on the gas a little it will smooth out. Even when the cruise is on and I come to a rise in the road it will miss on the way up and then smooth out at the top. I then changed a couple of vacuum hoses in poor condition and also the throttle position sensor...still the same thing. I also get the P0301 code again. Anyone have any ideas on this?? Thanks!!

"fordfedup", I see this s an old pos...What year, Hhow many miles? Have you run any type of fuel injector cleaner thru the system? Have you replaced the fuel filter? A dirty injector or plugged fuel filter can cause a missing issue Also, do you have the 3.0 with COPs or the 2.0 with a coil pack? If you have the 3.0, try moving the COP between #1 and another cylinder to see if the problem moves. If it does, then you have a bad COP. IF not, you may have an injector problem (dirty). This is just a starting point.
