2012 Ford Escape AC problem
The air works for about a half day after they run a dye test or a smoke test, not finding a leak and refilling. The last time I took it in they were able to see that the pressure was high. They figured this was due to the faulty Accumulator (dryer receiver) so they replaced that. 4 days later its blowing warm with intermediate bursts of cold air. The ac specialist said if this doesn't work we will have to keep replacing parts until we find the problem. Well after a 500 dollar bill for that one part I don't want to guess anymore so Im asking if anyone has encountered this problem before? Thanks

Anytime you have an A/C specialist that says they have to keep replacing parts until they find the problem, "Is not a specialist" and I would suggest you take it to your dealer if available. You may pay a little more, but They don't have too many "specialists" that have to keep replacing parts to correct the problem. I would bet yours would not be the first vehicle to come in with that problem. They should know that vehicle and system well enough to fix it.
Grant you some dealers don't have the best reputation, but that's when asking around about dealers pays off.

How was the dryer/receiver determined to be faulty?
The only function of the accumulator (Dryer/receiver) is to hold any excess liquid refrigerant/oil so that it doesn't hit the compressors low pressure side and liquid lock the compressor. It also contains a small amount of desiccant to remove any residual moisture that is in the system. As such, the dryer/receiver has no affect on the operation of your A/C system.
Did they give you your old part? One should always ask for their old part for replacement verification. To me, no old part = part was never replaced (I usually mark my parts before getting them replaced). This is true pretty much all the time.
"4 days later its blowing warm with intermediate bursts of cold air", sounds like borderline low refrigerant charge, or a faulty LOW or HIGH pressure switch. This can be pretty much determined by looking at the gauges when the A/C is operating to see if and when the compressor is kicking out.
Your best bet is like HANKY said...Pay the extra $$$ and get it done right at a Dealer. Most Dealers run A/C specials to get business, so look around.
