i have an 08 four cylinder (6k miles)with kn air filter and get an honest 22-23 around town with light foot. I do very little hwy driving, just pick up the grandkids and haul them all over the place! My other ride is 85 Mustang GT-T-tops which I have gone through and is almost ready for the paint shop.

My Brother bought the 2008 Escape with AWD and his gass mileage is bad around 14 MPG. Is anyone else getting this?
Did you ever get an answer on this problem. I just purchased a 2001 Ford Escape...it had set up for approx. 2 years in a garage, and only had 41,500 miles on it. I thought I had gotten a good deal until the gas mileage issue came up. I'm only getting 12 - 13 MPG currently. I know it can do better, but I'm not sure what is wrong.

We have an 09 AWD with the V6. On a trip from WV to South Carolina two weeks ago we logged 27.4 and 28.1 MPG. Considering there were 3 adults with lots of luggage I was extrememly pleased with those hand calculated numbers. The computer stated 29.6 on the tank full we hand calculated 28.1. ( 348 miles divided by 12.4 ) The computer is never right...always showing a mile or two better than I actually get. It's the same way on my Dodge Ram Cummins.
I had considered all of the small SUV's on the market today. The new one from Chevy seemed nice and is advertised at 31mpg highway. It would probably do that at slower speeds. Running the mountains at 70/75 mph will decrease that estimate I'm sure. This V6 Escape had lots of power on steep grades. It will downshift out of 6th gear though.
Our 09 Escape delivers 21 / 22 consistently in local driving...some interstate some town driving. I believe the 6 speed automatic offered starting on the 09 models helps with mileagae. Driving speed and style has a significant impact on gas mileage on all vehicles!!!

So it's not just me with the crappy mileage? Okay. Lol. Maybe it just has bad mileage. Lol.
