Default P0351 & Shuddering Issue

Hi all,

My 05 Escape is having some weird issues when driving and I've done a lot of research on the issue on the forums and such. I can't find a thread where they post the fix to this issue.

What happens: Shuddering and vibrating when accelerating & changing gear. Nothing happens when idling.

Code: P0351 (Ignition Coil)

I've taken the car to the dealer and they say they replaced the PCM and reprogrammed it and they also checked the wires to the PCM to make sure none of them were worn/broken.

Now they want to replace all 6 coils with Ford ones, I've already replaced 3 rear coils and it hasn't fixed anything. I'm letting them replace the other 3.

I've reset the code and it keeps coming back so I'm not sure if this is a PCM issue or a coil/misfire issue.

Thanks!

Ok. Just got a call from the dealership mechanics. They found an open to coil 1.

I feel like they should have checked this first rather than replacing all the coils.

They said the car drives fine now.
