Default Trailer Wiring 2007 Escape

I installed a factory hitch and wiring harness on my 2007 XLT Escape. Does anyone know what the trick is to getting the lights working ie fuse or relay some where. I have tried everything I know of short of taking it in. My sister-in-laws 06 IS the same way. I even looked at one that came with all that and there is no difference.
Thanks for all the imput

Did you ever find a solution? I put a hitch on my '06 and plugged a wiring harness/pitail into the factory installed trailer hook up located under the rear bumper and all I get is running lights...no brake or signal lights! I have an appointment to bring it in next week but I'm hoping to find a solution before that. There are no existing relays between the factory harness and the fuse box, so it must be a relay in the fuse/power/smart box or the computer needs to be programmed to allow it to work. I read that someone had to do that with their '06 when they installed fog lights (even though the wiring was already there).
