98 Ford Escort wont go in gear while running
#2
Hi John,
I'm a little confused, did you look at the vehicle to determine if it had no clutch master cyl or just look for a listing? There should be a master and slave cyl on it. check to see if the master is full. If not add some brake fluid and see what you get after a few times of pumping the clutch pedal.
If the master is full ,chances are the master is not sending pressure down to the slave cyl.
If you place the vehicle in 1st gear then start the engine , if the vehicle moves , the clutch is at least placing pressure on the flywheel.
The usual thing to do is , if you have to remove the trans to replace the slave cyl you might as well plan on replacing the clutch pressure plate and disc assy while it is open.
