Default Check Engine Light & Stalls in Curves Going Right

I just bought a 1997 Ford Escort. Had not been cranked in 2 years, it was running perfect when it was parked. Replaced Fuel Pump, all Spark Plugs, and Fuel Filter. Cranked right up. Problem is: The check engine light is on, and when you take a curve going right it dies, but it cranks right back up. Any suggestions, before I keep putting more money into it?

Not that this is the problem, but you should definately change the oil and oil filter as well.

hahaha. holy crap, if it is that old, best bet is to get a gas can, go up and get some new gas. Get home, drain the gas tank and refill with the new stuff.

Hmm, then probably got bad gas then.
Does the escort have a metal tank? if it sat for that long( i was thinking about this last night) and the tank wasn't completly full, there could be some corrosion in it, and got in the fuel lines.
