Smile ZX2 Thermostat housing problem

Hello all. I am replacing the thermostat housing on my 2000 ZX2. It has two temperature sending units on the housing that use O-rings and are held in place with metal clips. The new one that I purchased from Rock Auto.com is identical to the old one. The only problem is that where the 2 temperature sending units go, the holes are not drilled or knocked out going into the housing. There is a boss on the housing where the retaining clips fit to hold the sensors in place, but that's it. Anyone ever come across this problem. Can you just knock them out with a punch, drill them, or just go to a local parts store and buy another one hopefully with holes. Thanks for any suggestions, John
