Check Engine Light On And Passing Smog?
So 2 weeks ago I went to get a smog but had cleared my codes a week earlier because of my tuning programmer. Everything passed except the codes because there wasnt enough drive time on it. It took me 460 miles to finally get rid of the p1000 code, but now my engine light is on because of the low idle code. Its the idle air control valve, which in the past I have cleaned out but im wondering will they accept that code as no big deal and pass the smog, or is any code a problem when getting smog. I have only 1 free retest and I dont want to waste it. It cost me over $100 in gas just to get enough driving time, and working out of town doesnt speed up anything. Im going to clean out the idle part again but im not going to clear the code until I talk to the smog people, but since they arent open today anyone know if its not a big deal to have that code? Will the code disappear or will it always be there until I clear it?

Well, I've been to quite a few smog places, and they've always told me that officially, they can not pass you if you have a check engine light on...no matter what the cause is of the light (at least in California). You may be able to get a shady guy to pass you, but you'll probably pay a lot more for the smog. I suggest you fix the problem first.
I do not believe the code will automatically removed...I think you have to reset the code, but if you did not fix the problem, it may appear again during the test.
