Unhappy Expedition Problem - Please help!

Hi Expedition Lovers

I am experiencing a problem with my 1999 Expedition and I need help. Every once in a while, normally when I am driving at highway speeds, it feels as though the engine misses momentarily. It is almost as if the fuel flow is cut off for one tenth of a second. There are about 183,000 miles on the Expedition. I don't think that it is a transmission problem. Because the problem occurs when I am moving at constant highway speeds. But, I am not sure what it is. I took it to a mechanic that I trust and he cannot find any codes. I replaced the spark plugs a couple of months ago. But that didn't make a diffference.

Could be a number of things, but here's a few things I would check (pretty easy):

- check fuel filter to see if it's clogged.
- check spark plug wires
- clean the throttle body
- check for dirty air filter

I guess you can start there...

Default Fuel Filter or a dirty carburator

It sounds to me like it may be your fuel filter or a dirty carberator. Replace the fuel filter and get some carberator cleaner (spray can) and see if that corrects your problem. Good luck!
