Default Factory Navigation Systems. . .

Does anyone know where I can get information on newer (2003 - 2004) factory navigation systems?

I'd like to attempt retrofitting a 1998 Eddie Bauer Expedition (premium audio system and 6CD changer) with one of those new factory touch screen nav systems; provided it will physically fit.

Speaking to Ford service and parts departments has been useless since they all tell me the wiring harnesses don't/won't match, and say it can't be done. I really don't believe THAT for one minute.

Since I have a masters in electrical engineering, I will fabricate my own wiring harness and mounting plate if I can get a hold of the schematics for one of the new nav systems.

I've been searching the internet with zero results except for some random photos and Ford part numbers.

Thanks

. . Falcon

I just bought a 2005 King Ranch Expedition with the Nav radio. FYI, it does not have a touch screen. It uses a verticle row of buttons on the left side of the screen.

Falcon,
I bet your right, it can be done, but your going to have to buy the schematics of both vehicles. Maybe you can go to your mechanic and have him print you out the schematics, You ain't getting them off the net it cost $$$$$
