I have a 2004 explorer 4.0, 4x4 85,000 miles. recently it has been difficult to shift into park. When trying to shift to park the gearshifte lever just stops. When you release some pressure on the gearshift lever (as if trying to go into reverse) and then try to go into park again it it goes into park. This happens everytime we drive. The owners manual talks about a Brake-Shift interlock (prevents gearshift from being moved from Park) It talks about to override the brake-shift interlock with a screw driver. If I try this and it works do I need to have the brake shift interlock changed? the manual just talks about overriding it, not about having to have it changed. Anyone have any ideas. Thanks
