I have a 2002 Explorer XLT with the 4.6L, 65K. Was at the store and when I came out the truck would not start. Tried a couple of times to start it and wouldn't go. I pushed down on the gas and tried starting and it firedright up. Released the gas and died right out. Made it home with a little luck (no stopping). While it was running it ran just as well as it always has, no problems. Started it up and let the gas off a few more times in the driveway and it still died out. No check engine light. Would have thought at least it would throw a code after almost a dozen times of stalling out. Like I said, truck was running great 20 minutes before i let it sit and tried restarting. Full tank of gas also. I'm a little lost because of such a sudden change in performance. I don't know if anything has been posted before about this problem. I searched but didn't see anything that fit exactly. Any ideas on what to check first or links to any related problems. Much appreciated for any help.

 

I am having the same iaaues..except mine does it when it is really humid..havent got an ansewer yet..did you notice if it was humid that day or raining? just a thought ..good luck.

 

I guesse it was humid out. It rained a little that day and has been for the last couple of days on and off. When I get a chance I'll take a look at the idle air control and the egr valve to see if evrything is ok.

 

had to replace the rgr when my 4.6 was at 60,000 or so..good luck
