I have inherited my fathers 2002 Ford Explorer XLT with a 4.0L 6 cylinder. The truck is in great shape and runs fine. It has 4 wheel drive auto, high, and low. The truck is in 4 wheel drive auto all the time. If I put the truck in 4 wheel drive low the led button flashes for 10 to 30 seconds and turns itself off. If I put the truck in 4 wheel drive high it stays in this mode as long as I want. Is this normal, the low option turning itself off? I am wondering if the computer is sensing if it is needed and disengaging it? Also, how fast can I drive my truck in 4 wheel drive, like highway driving? Any help would be appreciated.
