Default 97 V8 explorer heat problem

The heat in my wife's explorer suddenly stopped working. It was cutting out a few weeks ago and I had the coolant system flushed and refilled. Problem solved. Now it wont work again. The engine temp light comes on and off also, so I didnt know if there was maybe a small leak in the coolant system that's draining it or if the heater coil is done or what. Please help, Im retarded with engines and its getting cold for her and my 2 kids. Thank you.

Default RE: 97 V8 explorer heat problem

Hi, there is a big black rubber hose from the upper of the radiator to the engine. Let the engine run for about 3minutes at 2000 RPM's. Touch that hose and check if it's hot, or at least warm. Then, there is two black rubber hoses going to the heater core, on the right side of the engine when your sitting in the car. Check if they are both hot. Try to vary the temperature by moving the temperature setting from hot to cold. Any differences? If not you might have a broken or stuck temperature blend door. Common problem on the explorer.

Nic.
