Default Engine Ticking

im new to the forum so any help would be much appreciated. i have a 1999 ford explorer sport with a 4.0L sohc. about a week ago it started ticking, the ticking only increased in volume and theticks increased as i accelerated. i just changed the oil and oil filter and air filter but the problem is still there. if anyone has any ideas to what it could be, i am willing to do just about anything to get it to stop.

I have the same problem. Only started happening when I had my Valve Cover replaced.

Cral, could you reccomend a specific brand of valve cleaner? I put in Lucas Upper Cylinder Lubricant/ Injector Cleaner, seems to be slowly fixing the problem, maybe after 1 more fill - up.

Thanks guys!

Hello, I am new to this forum also. I bought a 2007 Ford Explorer Ext in September 2011, and i am now hearing a ticking noise as i start the truck and it speeds up as i accelerate, but the ticking is not as loud as it was when i started the truck this morning.
