Default rounded off nut

i'm taking the transmission down to change the front seal on a 93 explorer. i encountered a problem with a torque converter bolt it's rounded off. i can't turn it with socket and i'm not able to get a wrench on it cause of where it's at. can anyone give me any ideas on what to do to remove this nut?

I use a flex head socket wrench (6 point on the socket end).. It won't easily round the nuts and is close coupled for clearence.. If the nut was only slightly rounded with a 12 point driver, the 6 point may still have enough bite to break the nut loose..

Buy a METRIC and SAE set of GRIP-TITE sockets. They work great for rounded nuts and bolts. I used them on my Son's 2000 Taurus to replace the rusted plugs in the 3.0 DOHC. I ordered mine from Sears. $126 for both sets which included the deep-well sockets. Read my results here: http://www.bt-andf.com/new.php
