Default Strange Problem---very strange

Hi, this is my first time to post. I have a very unusual problem with my 1999 Explorer. My check engine light has been on for a while (probably 6 months at least) as well as my "abs" light. Now, my brakes are working just fine, so I've ignored the light--also, had the truck checked out through diagnostics, and seems to be running lean and needed either a plug or wire--both replaced and light was cleared.

All of the sudden, about a month ago, it starts doing this dinging about every 30 minutes, but at least every single time I start the car. It dings in the same tone as when you turn the key to the on position (like you're listening to the radio) and leave the door open, that singlechime that ends the whole sequence when it stops dinging (it's a like a high pitched, non-erratic tone). It does this 5 times in a row, for 5 times...so it basically does 5 rounds of 5 every 30 minutes or so, even when I'm just driving down the road or interstate. Nobody I've taken it to knows what it is.

If anybody out there has had this same experience, or if you don't understand, please let me know!

Thanks for the help--LL

It's still doing it...and it's about to drive me insane. Anyone have ANY idea what this might be? I've checked seatbelts, door ajar..none of those seem to be the problem

The chime module could be defective or you may have an intermittent connection. On your abs your brakes will operate normal you won,t have the abs part work with the light on. Do you know what the abs code is. You could have an abs sensor bad.

K...I will have that checked out. Sounds like something Autozone may be able to help with since I know what to look for. Thanks for the advice/help. LL

This might be stupid but my 2001 Explorer does that when I'm not wearing my seat belt... it could be a bad seat belt sensor.
