Default Poor Idle

My friend has a 2000 Explorer, V-6, and it started to idle very poorly last summer. Regular tune-up items were completed, tono avail. I set up the idle with the stop screw (which I know is wrong, but she wanted the a/cworking and it would kill the motor). The idle has been "too high" ever since, unless the a/c kicks in...

When my 4.6 did this, I replaced the Idle air control valve, which fixed the problem nicely. Is there something similar on her vehicle? I've looked at the parts listings and can't find anything that sounds likely - I'll appreciate your input, thanks!
