Default 1993 Ford F150 problems...

I have a big problem... i have a 93 f150 xlt 5.8 and i just recently bought a set of ford racing 9mm sparkplug wires and a motorvation throttle body spacer. Put them on the other day and it is running like crap. It feels like its banging on 7 cylinders. i triple checked to see if i had the wires snapped on the cap right and checked to see if they were snapped on the plugs and thought it could've been the number 3 or 4wires that weren't all the way on because the heater hoses and lines are too close and i couldn't get my hand in there. they were all on and it still idled rough and shook. then i thought it was the spacer because my truck has the speed density sensor not the mass air flow. so i took it off and still it wont run like normal. i put new plugs in and a new cap and rotor and same thing happens. PLEASE some one help... im stumped. thank you

Sounds like you got a couple of spark plug wires crossed. Get the firing order from a manual or an auto parts store. Also make sure you know the cylinder number locations on a Ford. they are different then a GM. Good Luck.

I may be wrong, but I believe that the firing order on the 5.8 has the #1 cylinder at the frontpassenger side cylinder and goes straight back to #4 and #5 is the front driver side and gaoes straight back to #8. Maybe that will help eliminate one thing. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong here.

you need to go get differnt spark plugs motorcraft or (autolite if you can't afford) , is your mil light flashing? If so stop driving tell you get it fixed , your destorying your cat. THE #1 cyn looking at the engine is on the left (you can tell b/c that cyn head is a little more foreward than the other head) and it's 1234 on the left and 5678 on the right. those engines were designed with motorcraft plugs in mind , the smart bet is you need to go back to the reg plugs trust me .

I have a 5.8L in a 93 E-250 that started having the #3 plug fouled with fuel. Troubleshooting included swapping #3 and #4 plugs with no effect. Swapping #3 and #7 wires with no effect. Replaced the fuel injector with no effect. Wiring order checked and rechecked.

Seen other posts about one plug getting wet but have not seen any solutions.

Runs great after cleaning #3 plug but will eventually foul. Need some ideas. Thank, Steve

It might be time to run a compression check.
