Default 1995 Ford F150 4.9l what was i thinking?

New to the forum folks. I had not intended to buy a truck when I got out of bed yesterday. I have not owned one for years. Then I saw one yesterday for sale....... what was I thinking?

So, what do I have to know about this 6 cylinder engine? What should I have checked out right away? On the surface, this looks too good to be true, 125000 kilometers, body is almost flawless, owned by an elderly man who had it from the start.

Welcome to the site..

The mid 90's F Series was a good solid platform, and the 4.9 an excellent power plant.. If it was serviced on a regular intervals, then not much to worry about.. What trans?

It has an automatic transmission. After driving it now for four days I am happy to report all is well. The turn signals stopped functioning and I changed the fuse. While that seemed to be the problem, the 15amp fuse I took out looked fine. So, I will keep an eye on that.

The truck is no speed demon but it is solid and fun to drive. I am thinking about putting a new set of tires on it though. It has a set of winter grips on the back, all season on the front. Any suggestions?

If it's a 4WD I would recommend getting all of the same size and brand tires rather than mixing them like it is now. If it's a 2WD, then it's not so critical.
