Default 2006 F150 Battery light stays on

Hi all,

New member. My sons 2006 F150's battery light has been on for about 2 months. He took it over to Autozone and they checked the battery and alternator and said all was well. I even just put it on my sears engine analyizer and it shows charging at 14 volts. The truck has had no problems at all starting since the light came on. Going nuts. I'm thinking it may be the computer is giving false info.

Any thoughts are much appreciated.

Thanks,
Jim

You could try disconnecting the battery for an hour or so to see if the computer will reset and shut the light off.

Thanks for the response. I was begining to think this forum was no longer active.

Yes we did get the same advise. We actually disconnected the positive battery cable overnight but the darn light came right back on.
Thanks again,
Jim

You could try pulling both terminals overnight and trickle charge the battery overnight, too. That way you know you have a fully charged attery and a cleared system.

I'd also try starting the engine and at idle pull either the positive or negative battery terminal to see if the engine still runs. It's a double check for the alternator.

If that doesnt' work, you can always put a piece of electric tape over the light...

Lol.........love the tape suggestion. Actually we have fully determinded that the battery is fully charged and the alternator is charging fine. Yes, the old pulling of the positive cable while running was also done. Not even a hicup on the rpms when pulled. Crazy. Thanks a bunch..
