Start out on a road and drive until you are past 60 kilometers an hour or 40 miles an hour.

1. Start out on a road and drive until you are past 60 kilometers an hour or 40 miles an hour.
2. On your steering wheel or on the levers on the steering wheel, there should be a button or a toggle to activate cruise control. Hold your foot steadily on the gas pedal so it does not drop its speed.
3 .On your steering wheel, while still holding the gas pedal steady, hit cruise on/off and a button that says Set Coast or just coast. On a steering wheel that has a lever to activate the cruise control, look at the arrow on the cruise that says which way to hit it in order to activate the cruise control.
4 .When you let go of the gas pedal, you may notice that your engine RPM's have dropped. This is normal it just means that your vehicle's cruise control has been activated. A cruise light in the gauge pod may tell you that you have cruise control on.
Congratulations! You have successfully used cruise control!
5 .To deactivate cruise control, press on the brake pedal or press the cruise on/off button again and you will gain control of your vehicle's accelerator.

I just ordered and received a new steering wheel from EBay for $193. New in the box Ford part, and Fairway Ford in Greenville SC will be installing it and enabling cruise for me Friday.

The ford part number for the 2012 wheel I bought is:
BL3Z-3600-BC

This will work with 2011, 2012, and 2013 trucks I know.

Brand New Steering Wheel 2011 2013 Ford F 150 BL3Z 3600 BC | eBay

Looking forwards to having CC again.

Link to Ebay seller. : Tasca, Ford Parts items in Tasca OEM Parts store on eBay!

Fast to ship, and great communications. The dealers quoted me $250+ for the exact same part number.

I'll follow up after the install.

Update on cruise control. Install is complete and works perfectly! $120 for dealer to install the wheel and program the cruise. Not the cheapest, but worth it to me to have factory cruise. And since I bought a UHaul turn in, the new wheel feels fresh and clean compared to the original.

Default 2010 F150 Cruise Control and Steering Wheel Controls

Just a little update.

I was told by Ford that if I wanted to revert back to the factory radio it would allow me to use the extra buttons I inherited during my steering wheel upgrade.

On my steering wheel I have three sets of buttons.
1. Cruise Control
2. Mute for Bluetooth hands free set
3. Volume Control for the stereo.

After some research, I decided I wanted to add this function to my aftermarket radio using one of these three adapters:
1. Metra Axxess ASWC or ASWC-1
2. PAC SWI-RC or PAC-SWI Link
3. PAC SWI-ALP

Now these three will vary on your stereo make.
I was a little concerned because the steering controls did not come with my truck originally so I called the different vendors.

What I managed to find out accidentally before purchasing one of these is that in order for this to work, I had to find out if I had wires/pin 18 and 19 on my radio harness on the vehicle side. If I did not, it would not work with ANY radio.

Guess what... I don't have wires/pins 18 or 19 on my harness (see attachment)... So that means if I want the extra steering control to work and interface with my radio I have to run extra wires from the steering column to the radio.

With that said, if you want to upgrade to cruise control with the ability to use all steering wheel functions, check to see if you have wire/pin 18 and 19 on your radio harness or be prepared run wires yourself...found here --> http://www.f150online.com/forums/hea...-controls.html. FYI - You only need to run one wire (18) and ground (19). If not, you may want to order just the cruise control module and install it into your steering wheel using the measurements that I provided earlier in the post.

Hmm...
Now that I found the above link I may have to run it myself... Minus the taking off of my steering wheel and or if it works with a 2010 XL...

UPDATE - -
The information for the steering wheel control wiring that I listed above is different for a 2010 Ford F150 XL. I am researching more about it...

Default 2010 f150 XL 4.6

I have been contemplating adding cruise to my truck for a while now but not sure what the correct part for the steering wheel is. Is it 9L3Z3600BD or 9L3Z3600AC? What do the last two characters signify? Has anyone had any experience with the same truck I have and adding cruise? I added the trailer brake a few months ago and it went great. Any help would be appreciated!

9L3Z3600AC Ford Wheel Assy - Steering

When I look up both of them they show they "can" fit a 2010 XL 4.6... I found a link for the AC model above which says it fits: The 2009 Ford F150 All Engine(s)
2009 Lincoln Mark LT All Engine(s)
2010 Ford F150 All Engine(s)
2010 Lincoln Mark LT All Engine(s)

The BD looks like the version I have. It came out of a 2009 XLT I am told. I was also told by my local Ford Parts place that the 2009-2013 wheels are the same and are inter-changeable.

Default 2010 xl cc

Thanks! I asked Tasca Parts and they told me that 9l3z-3600-ac was the one that was correct for my VIN. I'm thinking that wheel is like mine in that it does not have any controls on it. they probably didn't realize why I want to switch. I found one I think will fit for only 129, and the dealer will program for 40. I can't wait!
