Default 4x4 indicator light

I actually have 2 concerns. I switched to 4x4 high (electronic not on the fly)for some icy weather and when I switched back to 2 wheel, the 4x4 indicator light stays lit. I don't know if that means its still in 4 high and the light is just staying on or if its stuck in 4x4 high. How do I know and what can I do about it!?!?

Second, my truck idles at about 500 rpms but revs up and down from 200 to 500 rpms most of the time. It usually goes to 200 and then dies. If I stay on the gas it will be ok but when I stop or change gears, it will idle too low and will die. I'm thinking spark plugs but I don't have a check engine light. Any ideas?

Thanks

I would assume that it is still in 4x4 if the light is on. Try turning it on and off again in park at idle.

Try a tune-up for the idle first. Also, the IAC (Idle Air Control) unit may nee to be cleaned.
