Default Transmission/Transfer Case HELP!

I just bought a 91 f-150. The guy claimed the transmission was bad, but I've figured out other wise. If you screw with the 4x4 stick, you can get it to engage into two wheel drive, but when you shift out, it drops it back into neutral. When you put it in four low, you can go through all of the gears. Can anybody help me with this? Thanks!

Default RE: Transmission/Transfer Case HELP!

I have just gone through the priocess of swapping out my 4-speed tranny for a 5-speed in my '93 F-150. One of the problems I encountered was difficult shifting in both the tranny and the xfer case. In the transfer case the solution was to take the shift linkage off and soak it over night in PB Blaster (or similar product), and then working the mechanism severl times to assure that it had loosened up before reinstalling it. That in itself was not a difficult job. The entire project has been alittle more troublesome. Good luck.
