Brake and ABS dash light on with blown fuse
need some help here with this one. 2006 Lincoln Mark LT, 2000,000 miles. A few weeks ago, brake and ABS light came on, noticed at the time that my A/C compressor would not engage. Found blown fuse, dash lights go away and A/C working again, in south Texas this is a huge relief! Now dash lights on again and fuse blows every time as soon as engine is started. So the question becomes: is this brake problem, or is it an A/c problem? anyone out there with any ideas on this one? Also noticed Ford tied in the cruise control to this fuse since it will not work with fuse blown now.

which fuse is blowing...there are more than one fuse to both abs and a/c.
most modern systems...when the abs goes out...so does cruise, as cruise uses abs data for speed input.
does the fuse blow if you shut of the hvac system before starting the car?

It is a 10amp fuse that runs the a/c compressor, the cruise control, and something with the abs/brake system. I am confident that it is not the a/c causing the fuse to blow, as I have made sure the ac system is completely off before turning truck off and replacing the fuse. It appears that the fuse blows when turning the key to the on position when it runs through the self check, the truck does not have to be actually started for it to blow. Can you tell me if these throw a code when the lights are on? I was thinking of taking it to a dealership to get the codes and then go from there if they throw a code

does the fuse in question not have a label in the fuse box? Like i said, there are 2 fuses that supply power to both abs and a/c....so i can't help you unless i know which of the 2 you are referring to.
if the abs light is on you will have a code set. the code will set as soon as the fuse blows. As you turn the key to run, engine off, the circuit is powered...the short blows the fuse.
