Default Camshaft Positionn Sensor issue

1997 F150, 4.2, 190,000 miles. 4X4
The "Check Engine" light is on. Had it checked to find out it is the Camshaft Position Sensor (again). Inspected cap (looks good). Checked for voltage and cannot detect the required 5 volts. Where do I look next?

Thanks

My F150 freinds is saying that the harness that came off the PCM connector closest to the passenger side fender was routed under AC line, well turns out that about four wires within the bundle had the casing chaffed and melted away. For a quick fix due to the darkness and poor flashlight then he wrapped each wire with some tape while the battery was disconnected and magically the problem had gone away.If not at 190k miles on it I would change the sensor and dont get it from the stealership, cost is alot less after market.
