code p0106
trying to find a answer to a p0106 code, baro/map sensor problem, this motor (4.6) does not have a map sensor. someone suggested replacing the EGR which i did but not before realizing that this code is and input code not output. next I thought possibly MAF. so i removed it and cleaned it, still no change..any suggestions

check the air duct between the MAF and the intake manifold for cracks...if nothing then you need to do some further checking...
check the info here for more help...

ok thanks
it's a 2006 4.6l with 4wd
just a note: I also disconnected the MAF just to see if that was having a problem as soon as I did "wrench light" came on a truck starting running like crap, reconnected it light when out and truck was ideling normal, so I guess i can rule out the MAF as a problem.
also inspected the air duct don't really see any cracks or anything broken

Hate to ask so many questions, but does it have an EGR module on it? That will be sensors on top of the EGR valve. It has 5 different tests for that code. Real PITA without seeing truck.
For vehicles with an EGR system module (ESM), KOEO, KOER DTCs P0107 or P0108, Go to DM2.
For vehicles without an EGR system module (ESM), any DTC P0106, KOEO, KOER DTCs P0107 or P0108, Go to DM20.
For vehicles with an EGR system module (ESM) continuous memory DTCs P0107, P0108, or KOEO P0109, Go to DM14.
For vehicles without an EGR system module (ESM) continuous memory DTCs P0107, P0108, or KOEO P0109, Go to DM26.
For vehicles with an EGR system module (ESM) DTC P0106, Go to DM15.

this is the test
For vehicles with an EGR system module (ESM) DTC P0106, Go to DM15.
from what I see, if you get a no on dm15 replace esm
a yes takes you to dm 16
a no answer there replaces esm and a yes, well I don't really understand that answer
concern not present at this time, clear the dtc's repeat self test all that's going to do is bring me right back to dm15
doesn't it self test on engine on?
confusing

ok thanks, but I already have the test pages, think I'll just replace the esm, it's brand new so I could have gotten a bad one
problem with he the test is you need a scan tool to read map and map v voltage at 1000 and 2000
