the first thing you need to do get the correct dipstick to make sure you have the right amount of oil in it. it's normal to hear a slight ticking or knocking sound at first start up but should get quiet within ten seconds from the way I get it you rebuilt the top half of the motor and may have gotten some of the old gasket in the return ports or somewhere else and not letting the oil get to the top of it
