Default Plug / Coil-on-plug question...brand preference?

I have an '03 Screw w/ 5.4l at 108k miles. Only recently did it start missing every once in a blue moon just for brief moments. It also is occasionally harder to start...cranks but won't fire for a few seconds. I figure I'm just gonna go ahead and do the plugs & COPs for good measure and see what happens.

Are there any good brands to go with or types of plugs, or should I stick with OEM everything? Are the ACCEL COPs any good? Any particular type of plug better than another?

Any help appreciated...Thanks in advance...

I bought a set for my Son's 2000 Taurus 3.0 DOHC from GLOBAL-AUTOMOTIVEon EBAY. They work great and come with a lifetime warranty. Best price around. Beats paying $100 each from Ford and even other aftermarket MFG prices.

I would say to start with plugs and boots before replacing the coils. I would also recommend accel coils due to cost and value. Plugs on the other hand are mostly a matter of personal preference. I prefer bosch platinums, but just the regular ones not the +2s or +4s considering the cost and that the spark only arcs to one electrode anyway. Autolites are good too and are the oem as well.

My Buddies recommended Uneeksupply and have purchased coils from them over a 2 years ago. Still working good. I m not sure about globalautomotive , read some negative stuff about him.

Default 5.4 Ltr. Plugs and C.O.P's.

I just completed a Top Half Overhaul on my 01 Expedition 5.4 Ltr. because of the plugs blowing out of the head.. I used Auto-lite Platinum ( This Time ) and Duralast Coils. I got the coils in an (8) eight pack for $100.. However, I had an issue with one coil and had to replace it.. Of coarse it would be the number four, behind and under the fire-wall, on passenger side.. What a pain to fix it the first time, the second time was one too many..! This may be a "fluke" that one coils was bad out of the box, I've never had a problem with this brand before.. The plugs that came out were "Motor Craft", OEM, I think.. The expedition is running great now, and the fuel mileage is better than it has been for a long time..
** Maybe this will help newer members looking to fix older trucks, I didn't see how old the post was..!! **
